The Geothermal Resources Council presents the 2020 Geothermal Photo Contest
As part of the Geothermal Resources Council (GRC) Annual Meeting & Expo in Reno, Nevada, USA, October 18-21, 2020 the GRC will hold its 41st Geothermal Photo Contest. The contest serves to showcase the talent of the geothermal community as well as the beauty and intrigue found in every aspect of the geothermal industry.
Photographs on any subject related to geothermal energy including geothermal energy production, EGS, direct use and geothermal heat pumps can be submitted. This includes photos in the areas of exploration, drilling, well testing, research and development, power plant construction, operation, and maintenance, geological features or geothermal manifestations. This year we ask for photos that answer the question "What is geothermal to you?"
Geothermal provides our communities long-term jobs and economic benefits while supplying low-cost, low-impact energy with innovative technologies. For the 2020 photo contest, GRC is soliciting submissions in 3 categories that help raise awareness of the benefits of geothermal energy:
- Jobs: Providing long-term, wage earning jobs
- Low Impact: Providing low geographic impact, water use & emissions
- Innovation: Showcasing research & development of new technologies
Color or black & white photos are acceptable. Photos must be submitted in a digital jpeg (jpg), tiff or GIF (short animated movies of no more than a few seconds) format. Photos taken with digital or film cameras are acceptable: photos taken with a film camera should be converted to digital format. Entries should be emailed to ICrawford@geothermal.org with “Photo Contest” in the subject line. Please make sure the total file sizes are under 10MB per email (send multiple emails if this limit is exceeded). The winners will be displayed in PowerPoint presentations, within the GRC Annual Meeting Event App, on the cover and in the pages of future GRC publications and on the GRC website.
